About this event
Our host, Dave Beugen, has been busily planning our annual Fox Hunt, which begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 26th.
This Hunt promises to be one our most picturesque as we traverse an easy course through the South Bay area, chasing those elusive foxes, Freddy and Fredericka.
Many of you have participated in our annual Fox Hunt and know what to expect.
For our new members or members who have not participated in the past, you might refer to this event as a car rally or scavenger hunt where you are looking for pieces of the fox and answering questions about the locales through which we travel.
We will meet in the parking lot of the Malaga Cove Plaza in Palos Verdes Estates, close to the fountain at 9:30 am. There you will enjoy coffee and donuts before the hunt and receive your Fox Hunt package that includes instructions, a questionnaire and a panic envelope. The host of the event will send each car out separately so that you will see other participants, but you won’t know if they are on the right track or not. You will follow the directions and answer the questions on the questionnaire, which will lead you to our surprise lunch destination. There are several stops along the way where you will retrieve portions of the picture of the fox. Be sure to save all of the pieces so that you can form the complete picture at the end. At the end of the Hunt, you will be rewarded with a wonderful meal. Don’t worry if you get lost or confused because each package will include a panic envelope with the location of our restaurant. The winner of the Fox Hunt must have all of the pieces of the portrait of the fox, the most correct answers to the questions on the questionnaire and NOT have opened the panic envelope. As the winner, you will receive a grand perpetual trophy that you will keep for one year, accolades from all of your fellow members and, if you choose, the privilege of hosting the 2026 Fox Hunt.
So, mark your calendar and plan on joining us on Sunday, October 26th. Be sure to have a driver and at least one observer who can record the answers to the questions. Hint: the more observers you have, the easier it will be. The Hunt will probably last about an hour and a half, so please be sure that you have plenty of gas. We hope to see you there! Hunters, to your steeds! Please RSVP before October 19th!
